The droids would not have waited for Grievous to come down to secure the hostages. In A New Hope, the storm troopers did not wait for Darth Vader to come down to the hanger to search the Millenium Falcon. With Padme secured, Grievous would've taken her to the bridge. When Obiwan and Anakin came to rescue her, they would have gone to the bridge, dueled Grievous, and eventually get away without the opportunity to hijack the hyperdrive so that the Malevolence would crash into the moon. The scence were gob walks in the room & tells buster he freed the seal that bite off his hand, (rite after buster distorys the room, while screaming "I AM A MONSTER!") charges after gob & stabs him in the ass
